Clayton, NC (October 3, 2021) – At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, October 3, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred in Clayton.
According to Clayton Police, the accident happened on US-70 around the area of Yates Drive. A man was walking alongside the westbound lanes of traffic when he was suddenly struck by a pickup truck. The pickup truck driver, who was either in a red Chevy Silverado or a GMC Sierra, fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The male pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
