Clayton, NC (June 30, 2021) – On Monday night, June 28, a female was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Clayton.
According to police, the accident happened at Vinson Road. A female was stuck on the top of a vehicle when a man drove off with her still on. She was thrown off onto the ground and was struck by one or more vehicles.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The female pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not believed that any other parties were injured.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that drove off with the woman on top was arrested on various charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
