Clayton, NC (September 29, 2021) – At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 29, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Clayton.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on East Garner Road. A white SUV was traveling in the area when the driver did not see a pedestrian on the road, striking her. The driver of the SUV immediately pulled over and remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 26-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The driver of the SUV cooperated with the police and was not hurt. They will not be facing charges at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time.
