Coats, NC – Police Officer Injured in Car Crash at Cane Mill Rd & Red Hill Church Rd

Coats, NC (October 21, 2021) – At 5:45 p.m. on the evening of Wednesday, October 20, a police officer was injured in a car crash at an intersection in Coats.

According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of Cane Mill Road and Red Hill Church Road. A Coats Police Department cruiser was traveling in the area when the officer entered the intersection without stopping at a stop sign. The officer struck another vehicle, causing it to roll over. The rolled vehicle sustained severe damage as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The officer, as well as the other party, were both rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed that charges are pending against the officer, though they did not say which charges.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
