Durham, NC (October 7, 2021) – At 8:48 p.m. on the night of Wednesday, October 6, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash occurred at an intersection in Durham.
According to officials, the accident happened at the intersection of North Duke Street and Markham Avenue. A pedestrian was walking in the area when a driver breezed through an intersection, striking the pedestrian. The driver of the involved vehicle then fled the scene without stopping.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Their current condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time. This led to delays until police cleared the scene.
