Durham, NC (November 7, 2021) – Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, November 7, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Durham.
According to Durham Police, the accident happened on South Miami Boulevard at a parking lot. A Chevrolet Equinox was pulling out of a parking lot when it struck a Nissan Maxima headed southbound in the area. The Equinox was struck so forcefully that it landed in the northbound lanes on its roof.
A woman identified as 29-year-old Jasmine Harbison and her boyfriend pulled over to help those inside the Chevrolet. A second Chevrolet Equinox, which was traveling in the northbound lane of traffic, swerved and struck Harbison who was standing next to the vehicle.
Harbison was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV that struck Harbison, as well as two people inside the flipped Equinox, were all hospitalized with minor injuries.
The roadway was blocked for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
