Durham, NC (March 10, 2021) – On Saturday evening, March 6, one person was killed and two more victims sustained serious injuries in a collision in Durham.
According to officers with the Durham Police Department, 19-year-old Omar Vargas, of Durham, was driving a 2002 Buick Century around 5:00 p.m. when the car crossed a yellow line on Cole Mill Road near Quail Ridge Road, ran off the road, and struck a tree.
Vargas was transported to the hospital, where he died. Two passengers in the car, an 18-year-old woman and a 19-month-old child, also sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Investigators said the events leading up to the collision are unclear, and the current conditions of the two victims are unknown.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
