Elizabeth City, NC (December 8, 2021) – At 11:20 a.m. on Monday, December 6, a man was killed in a fatal truck accident in Elizabeth City.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of US-158 and Blindman Road. An 83-year-old man identified as James Linwood White Jr. was driving a GMC pickup truck in the area when he suddenly slammed into a tractor-trailer at the intersection. The pickup truck then ran off the side of the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. White Jr. was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 17-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
