Elizabeth City, NC (January 28, 2021) – On Thursday, January 28, a truck accident took place at an intersection in Elizabeth City.
According to officials, the accident took place at the intersection of US-17 and US-158 when a tanker truck ran through a red light. The truck immediately struck a passenger vehicle. Police said that, on top of the circumstances, the road was covered in two inches of slush. It is not known if the roads were icy at this particular intersection. The passenger vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. One person was hospitalized, though their identity and condition are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
