Elizabeth City, NC (March 22, 2021) – Around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 21, a fatal crash took place at an intersection in Elizabeth City.
According to officials, the collision happened at the intersection of US-17 and Main Street. At the time, 45-year-old Amanda Wood was driving her white SUV and ran through the intersection when a green SUV slammed into her vehicle.
Paramedics and other responders rushed to the scene. Wood and her 11-year-old daughter were pronounced dead.
The other driver, who has been identified as an adult female, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
