Elkin, NC (August 21, 2021) – At 11:49 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, August 21, a fatal car accident took place on a highway in Elkin.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol officials, the accident happened on the Elkin Highway. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the crash were badly damaged and had to be removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, though their identity is not yet known. It is not known if anybody was injured in the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
