Fayetteville, NC (January 4, 2021) – On Monday, January 4, an employee with the Parks and Recreation was injured in a pedestrian crash in Fayetteville.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Airport Road. The employee, who has not yet been identified, was planting shrubs in the median of the roadway with their vehicle parked in the left lane of Airport Road. A passing truck collided with the back of the work truck, which was then forced into the employee.
The employee was seriously injured as a result of the accident. They were taken to the hospital, though their condition is not yet known.
One person inside the truck was killed as a result of the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area for several hours but police reopened the roadway around 5 p.m.
At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
