Fayetteville, NC (September 25, 2021) – At 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 25, a man was injured in a workplace accident involving a crane in Fayetteville.
According to police, the accident happened at Valley Proteins in Fayetteville on Industrial Drive, the same plant where two workers were found unresponsive a few weeks prior. The company was using a crane to lift the front of a tractor-trailer so that feathers could be shaken out of it. The crane was lifting too much when it suddenly turned over, causing the crane to land on top of the tractor-trailer’s cab. The driver sitting in the cab of the truck was crushed.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. The man inside the cab was seriously injured as a result. He was rushed to the hospital, though his current condition is not yet known.
The area was blocked for some time as police worked to clear the scene.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
