Fayetteville, NC (December 11, 2021) – On Saturday afternoon, December 11, an officer was injured in a rear-end accident at a parade in Fayetteville.
According to police, the accident happened during the Fayetteville Rotary Christmas Parade in an unidentified area. Due to reasons that are not yet known, a man was wielding a knife at the parade. The man got inside his red sedan and slammed into the back of a police cruiser. The vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the officers sustained injuries as a result of the accident. The injured victim was hospitalized but is expected to be okay.
The officers were able to disarm the man, who was taken into custody after the incident. He is facing several charges and being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
