Fayetteville, NC (September 12, 2021) – Around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, September 12, two people were killed in a Fayetteville workplace accident.
According to officials, the incident happened at Valley Proteins at 1309 Industrial Drive. Two workers were found unresponsive inside the plant in the afternoon hours. A hazmat team was immediately called to the scene. The hazmat team immediately removed the workers from the area.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The workers were transported to local hospitals but they were tragically pronounced dead while there. The parties have not yet been formally identified.
The plant is known for providing animal recycling and creating fats for feeding stock. The building has since been evacuated as an OSHA Emergency Response Team works the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
