Garner, NC (March 24, 2021) – Around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, March 23, a child was killed in a pedestrian accident in Garner.
According to police, 6-year-old Fred Lamont Woodard Jr. was found at the intersection of Benson Road and JR Drive. Police are not sure why the child left his home and was found alongside the road, or why the vehicle involved in the accident did not stop.
Family members confirmed that Fred had autism and did not speak much. He was badly injured in the accident and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It is believed that police found the driver responsible for the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
