Garner, NC (October 16, 2021) – On Saturday morning, October 16, an eight-vehicle collision with injuries occurred on a highway in Garner.
According to Garner officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-40 around the area of exit 309. For reasons that are not fully known, eight vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision in the westbound lanes. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several people were hurt in the accident. The injured victims were hospitalized but they are expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for approximately an hour. The roadway was reopened around 12:45 p.m.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
