Greensboro, NC (June 26, 2021) – Officers have released further details after an Apex woman and a Holly Springs teenager were both killed in a head-on collision that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, June 21.
Police said that the incident occurred on Interstate 40 in Greensboro. Fire rescue units and EMS were dispatched to the scene after an eastbound Nissan Altima crossed the center median and hit a Kia Sorrento around 4:30 p.m. The Altima also hit a Jeep and collided with a third vehicle. Police say that 51-year-old Lisa Tate and 18-year-old Victoria Padilla were pronounced dead at the scene. Another young passenger in Tate’s vehicle was transported to an area medical center in serious condition, though their current condition has not been provided.
The driver of the Altima, a 19-year-old woman from Summerfield, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. The crash remains under investigation, however, and officers did not release further details.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Lisa Tate and Victoria Padilla at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
