Greensboro, NC (June 26, 2021) – A hit-and-run accident left one man dead in Greensboro on Thursday morning, June 24.
Officers with the Greensboro Police Department said that the wreck happened on Wendover Avenue near Guilford College Road around 1:45 a.m. on Thursday. Highway patrol troopers said that 29-year-old Stephan Hampton, of Greensboro, was traveling eastbound on a moped when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver of that car did not remain at the scene, according to troopers.
EMS responded shortly after the incident occurred and attempted life-saving measures, but Hampton died at the scene.
Troopers are still investigating the crash and have not released further details about the driver or the car involved. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Guilford County Highway Patrol District Office.
