Greenville, NC (December 17, 2021) – At 4 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, December 16, a serious moped accident occurred in Greenville.
According to Pitt County officials, the accident happened when a moped driver was headed east on NC-264. A driver in a Honda was speeding and did not stop in time, slamming into the driver of the moped from behind. The moped veered off to the side and crashed as a result, leading to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the moped was seriously injured and taken to Vidant Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Charges are pending against the driver of the Honda.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
