Jamestown, NC – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on I-85 at Groometown Rd

Jamestown, NC (February 24, 2021) – Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday morning, February 22, a fatal pedestrian accident took place in Jamestown.

Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run suspect after a pedestrian was struck and killed early, troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol said in a news release. Around 2:18 a.m., troopers with the Highway Patrol responded to a report of a crash on Interstate 85 near Groometown Road. An unknown vehicle traveling southbound collided with a person in the roadway and fled the scene. Local EMTs were dispatched shortly after the wreck occurred, though the pedestrian died at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Highway Patrol at 336-334-5500.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the pedestrian, and the accident remains under investigation.
