Kill Devil Hills, NC (August 18, 2021) – Around 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, August 16, a head-on collision occurred on a roadway in Kill Devil Hills.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol officials, the accident took place on Colington Road. A driver, identified as William Hassell, was driving in the area when he traveled into the wrong lane and struck a vehicle head-on. The other driver was identified as Sarah Emerson. Both of the vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. Hassell and Emerson were both taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries but they are expected to be okay.
Hassell was cited for driving in the wrong lane of traffic. The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
