Kinston, NC – Amy Jo Tyndall Killed in Pedestrian Accident on NC-11

Kinston, NC (October 28, 2021) – Around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, October 26, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident near an intersection in Kinston.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on NC-11 around the intersection of Ashland Drive. A woman identified as 43-year-old Amy Jo Tyndall was walking with another pedestrian in the area across four lanes of travel. Tyndall was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene and traveled for approximately three miles until the driver stopped.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. Due to the severity of her injuries. Tyndall was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian was not hit or injured.

Witnesses told police that the vehicle that struck Tyndall was a four-door passenger vehicle and was dark in color. Police located the driver, who has since been identified as27-year-old Antwaun Thompson. He has since been charged with felony hit-and-run and is in jail.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
