Kinston, NC – Child Killed in Fatal House Fire on Water Chestnut Dr

Kinston, NC (November 22, 2021) – At 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, November 21, a child was killed in a fatal house fire in Kinston.

According to Lenoir County officials, the incident happened at 1879 Water Drive. Fire crews received calls that a mobile home was on fire in the area. When they arrived at the scene, they found the home completely engulfed in flames and started to rescue those inside while bringing the fire under control.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. They were able to pull a juvenile out to safety but they were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Three other people were injured and had to be treated at the scene. It is not known if the parties were hospitalized.

The damage to the home was incredibly substantial and considered a loss. The area was blocked for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
