Kinston, NC (April 24, 2021) – On Tuesday, April 20, a fatal crash took place at an intersection in Kinston that led to charges.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Wallace Family Road and Tilghman Mill Road. Two vehicles collided at the intersection when a driver did not stop at the stop sign. She has since been identified as 42-year-old Kimberly Barrett.
The couple in the other vehicle was identified as 37-year-old Antonio Rhem and 39-year-old Regina Rhem. Their vehicle was struck so forcefully that it landed upside-down in a yard nearby. The two were pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Barrett has since been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failing to stop at a stop sign.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
