Knightdale, NC (May 8, 2021) – Late Friday evening, May 7, a car accident with injuries and at least one fatality occurred on a major roadway in Knightdale.
Authorities say 28-year-old Meredith Lauren Moore was killed when the vehicle she was riding in crashed just before midnight in the 3000 block of South Smithfield Road.
Moore was a passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on South Smithfield Road. Authorities say the crash happened when the vehicle hit an oncoming car in another lane.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, though authorities have not said what caused the vehicle to go into the wrong lane.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
