Knightdale, NC (March 7, 2021) – On Sunday, March 7, a police chase led to a serious car crash at an intersection in Knightdale.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of South Smithfield Road and Poole Road. Deputies were initially pursuing the driver of a Mazda SUV with a reckless driver. The driver, identified as Terry Harris, went through the intersection and slammed into a black Lexus.
Both vehicles were left with severe damages and were removed from the scene by wreckers.
The female driver of the Lexus was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be rescued by fire crews. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Harris has since received charges of using a deadly weapon to inflict serious injury, eluding arrest, felony possession of marijuana, careless driving, and more.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
