Lexington, NC (January 14, 2021) – On Wednesday afternoon, January 13, a fatal pedestrian crash involving a train took place in Lexington.
The accident took place around the area of 600 West 5th Avenue on the bridge when a train struck a pedestrian walking in the area. Police are not yet sure what caused the accident to occur.
The pedestrian has since been identified only as an adult. The party was badly injured and pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The area was blocked for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
Railroad police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
