Micro, NC (January 10, 2021) – A woman died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in Micro on Saturday afternoon, January 9.
Local reports revealed that the deadly crash occurred at around 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of US-301 and Watson Road. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 63-year-old Shirley Ann James was driving a GMC Sonoma pickup truck at the time of the accident. James reportedly collided with a Johnson County deputy’s vehicle driven by 24-year-old Quinton Rhue.
While Rhue had his emergency lights engaged and was passing slow-moving vehicles, James reportedly made a left turn and struck the deputy’s cruiser. James sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Rhue was also injured in the accident.
An ongoing investigation into the collision is currently underway.
