Morganton, NC (February 1, 2021) – Around 6:18 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 31, a woman was killed following a fatal collision in Morganton.
According to police, the accident took place on NC-181. Police confirmed that 84-year-old Glenda Kelly was driving south in her Chevrolet minivan when her vehicle collided head-on with a Kia passenger vehicle for reasons that are not fully known.
Kelly was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident due to her injuries. The driver of the Kia, identified as 58-year-old Daphne Beam, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours in the area.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
