Morrisville, NC (June 20, 2021) – Around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, June 20, a multi-vehicle crash took place in Morrisville, just outside of Raleigh.
According to officials, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 around the exit to Hammond Road and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Police confirmed that the accident involved several vehicles, and initial reports indicate that two sedans collided in a rear-end accident. Raleigh dispatchers send paramedics and fire rescue units to the scene around 10:05 p.m. They found that one or more victims were injured, though their current conditions are not yet known and the number of victims transported to area hospitals is also unclear.
At least two lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time while police investigated and worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
