Nags Head, NC (July 24, 2021) – At 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, a scooter accident occurred at an intersection in Nags Head.
According to police, the accident happened at the intersection of the South Croatan Highway and Danube Street. The rider of a black scooter was trying to cross the street when a southbound passenger vehicle drove through a red light at the intersection. The vehicle hit the scooter and then fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The rider of the scooter, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Outer Banks Hospital. The rider is expected to be okay.
The road was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
