Nags Head, NC (April 15, 2021) – A bridge collapse in the Nags Head area left one worker dead and another injured on Wednesday, April 14.
Local authorities reported that the fatal accident occurred in an area of the Old Bonner Bridge on the Outer Banks. The bridge was reportedly replaced two years prior, and the workers were dismantling the structure at the time of the collapse. Emergency responders were called to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties.
One of the workers suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. Another was transported to a nearby medical facility for the treatment of serious injuries. At this time, the identities of the involved parties have been withheld.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly incident is underway.
