New Bern, NC (May 4, 2021) – At 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 4, a bus crash took place at an intersection in New Bern.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Chair Road and Highway 55. At the time, a school bus was making a left turn at the intersection when an SUV struck the bus.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene to help those in need. There was a total of 25 students on the bus at the time but no students were injured. The driver of the SUV, who has not yet been identified, was flown to Vidant Medical Center by medical helicopter for treatment of serious injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
