Princeton, NC (May 31, 2021) – A 19-year-old man in Johnston County has been hospitalized after he sustained a serious head injury from a falling tree on Saturday, May 29.
Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell said that the victim’s father, Lt. Reliford with the sheriff’s office, found the injured man, identified as Hunter Reliford, as he drove into work. The tree fell on the Reliford’s truck while he was driving on Bizzell Grove Church Road. Hunter Reliford was transported to WakeMed with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was also undergoing X-rays for a possible head injury and is still in the hospital at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details about the events leading up to the accident have not been released.
Our thoughts go out to Hunter Reliford and his family. We hope for his full recovery.
