Raeford, NC (June 19, 2021) – Around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, June 17, a soldier was killed in a car that occurred in Fort Bragg, according to reports from authorities.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at 9:15 a.m. and said that the wreck occurred on Raeford-Vass Road near Plank Road when a military 18-wheeler collided with a military backhoe. The driver of the 18-wheeler was pronounced dead at the scene. The other soldiers, who were on their way to a training range, had to be extricated from the truck and transported to an area medical center.
The soldier hasn’t been identified, and the total number of victims injured is unknown.
No other details of the crash were immediately available, though police say their investigation is ongoing.
