Raleigh, NC – Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision on US Hwy 264

Raleigh, NC (June 3, 2021) – At 11:43 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on a major roadway in Raleigh.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on U.S. Highway 264 around the area of NC-43. A large box truck was traveling north in the area when the driver suddenly drove off the side of the road and crossed the median. It then struck a vehicle that was traveling south.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene. Three people, who have not yet been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene while a fourth passed away at Vidant Medical Center. The driver of the box truck was injured and hospitalized.

The driver of the box truck has since been identified as Alberto Pedraza III. He has since been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
