Raleigh, NC (January 3, 2020) – Around noon on Sunday, January 3, a man was killed in a fatal accident in Raleigh.
According to police, the accident took place when five vehicles collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known on Six Forks Road in the area of I-540. The vehicle that a firefighter identified as Herman Ellis was driving in rolled over as a result of the collision.
Due to the severity of the accident, Ellis was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed that he was not on duty at the time of the crash.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation remains ongoing.
