Raleigh, NC (July 17, 2021) – A motorcycle accident left one victim seriously injured on Friday evening in Raleigh, according to officers with the Raleigh Police Department.
Per reports from authorities, the incident occurred just after 7:00 p.m. in the 1200 block of northbound South Saunders Street, located close to Prospect Avenue. The northbound lanes of South Saunders Street were closed for several hours while police investigated.
A car hit the victim on his motorcycle and then fled the scene, according to officers. The man was ejected from his motorcycle after striking a curb as a result of the initial impact.
The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance in serious condition, police said. Officers did not release a description of the suspect vehicle or the driver who hit the motorcyclist.
The road was closed until about 11:00 p.m. as officers conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation. The investigation is ongoing at this time, however, and further details have not been released.
