Raleigh, NC (November 1, 2021) – At 10 p.m. on Saturday night, October 30, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on train tracks in Raleigh.
According to Raleigh Police, the accident happened on the Amtrak train tracks around the area of the North Carolina State University campus and I-440. A male pedestrian was crossing the tracks in the area when he was suddenly struck by a train traveling in the area. The train immediately came to a stop after striking the pedestrian.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The male pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The area was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
