Raleigh, NC (July 18, 2021) – Around midnight on Sunday morning, July 18, a man was killed in a pedestrian crash in Raleigh.
According to the Raleigh Police Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Sego Court. A pedestrian was allegedly walking in the area when they were suddenly struck by a pickup truck. The driver and passenger inside the vehicle got out and fled the scene on foot. The road was scattered with debris in the area.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was pronounced dead due to his severe injuries.
Police are still looking for the driver responsible for the accident.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was closed for over 7 hours as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
