Salisbury, NC (February 8, 2021) – Around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday night, February 7, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash in Salisbury.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Gold Knob Road around the area of Mahaffey Road. A pedestrian was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a Ford passenger vehicle that was headed south. The pedestrian was walking with another pedestrian but the other individual was not struck.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, identified as 32-year-old Samuel Lewis Lineberry, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Matthew Ray Ball. He remained at the scene of the accident.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
