Scotland Neck, NC – Teen Killed in Fatal Car Crash on NC-903

Scotland Neck, NC (May 24, 2021) – At 12:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, May 23, a teen was killed in a fatal car crash in Scotland Neck.

According to police, the accident happened on NC-903. A vehicle was traveling in the area when it rear-ended another vehicle. The second vehicle was struck so forcefully that it ran off the side of the road and struck a tree. The driver and a 14-year-old passenger were both thrown from the vehicle.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The two ejected victims were rushed to the hospital with traumatic injuries. The driver survived their injuries but the 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the second one was identified as 51-year-old Edward Moody. He was driving drunk at the time and has since been charged with felony death by vehicle.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
