Selma, NC (July 4, 2021) – A motorcycle accident resulting in one victim’s death and another victim sustaining serious injuries occurred on Interstate 95 in Johnston County on Sunday afternoon, July 4th.
Officers say that the collision was reported around 12:00 p.m. and occurred in the northbound lanes of I-95, located just north of Selma. According to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a motorcycle occupied by two people was traveling northbound when the accident occurred, and both occupants were ejected. It’s unclear if another vehicle collided with the motorcycle or if the driver lost control. EMS units responded and pronounced the passenger dead at the scene. They transported the driver via ambulance to WakeMed. The names of the two victims have not been released.
The fatal accident still remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
