Siler City, NC (October 9, 2021) – At 1:10 p.m. on the afternoon of Friday, October 8, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Siler City.
According to police, the accident happened on US-64 around the area of East Raleigh Street. An individual was traveling in the area when they lost control and slammed into the local Johnson’s Drive-In restaurant. Four people were waiting in the parking lot for food when the vehicle struck them. The driver remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries. Two of the victims were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and another was transported to the hospital with serious injuries by medical helicopter. The driver of the vehicle that struck the restaurant was not hurt.
The area was blocked for a period of time. Police confirmed that the restaurant did not sustain severe structural damage. Police are still trying to determine how the driver lost control and slammed into the building. Their investigation remains ongoing at this time.
