Smithfield, NC – E Market St/Hwy 70 Two-Car Wreck Leaves Man Dead, Woman Hurt

Smithfield, NC (November 20, 2021) – A man died on Sunday morning, November 14, after a two-vehicle accident occurred in the Smithfield area.

Police say that the wreck was reported at 11:45 a.m. on East Market Street, Highway 70, near Outlet Center Drive.

Police said an 81-year-old man was driving a 2005 Cadillac and attempting to pull from the driveway of the Waffle House to make a left turn onto Market Street. At that time, a 2012 Honda traveling westbound on East Market Street and driven by a 21-year-old woman collided with the man’s vehicle.

The man died from multiple blunt force injuries at the scene. The female driver sustained only minor injuries in the wreck.

No further details have been released. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
