Smithfield, NC (June 27, 2021) – On Saturday, June 26, a woman was killed in a house fire on a road in Smithfield.
According to fire crews, the house fire happened in a one-story home on North Sussex Drive. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that there were flames pouring out of the back window of the home. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control as they quickly made access to the home.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. When fire crews made access, they found a woman unconscious on the couch. The 58-year-old woman was pulled from the home but was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people inside the home, as well as the family pet, were able to get out without injuries.
The area was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
