Stella, NC (December 5, 2021) – At 12:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, December 4, a firetruck accident occurred in Stella.
According to officials, the crash happened on Stella Road around the area of the White Oak River. A firefighter was driving the engine when they suddenly lost control due to reasons that are not yet known. The engine left the road and crashed into a ditch, then struck the culvert of a driveway. The firetruck was damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One firefighter was trapped in the engine and had to be rescued by fire crews. Another received more severe injuries and was airlifted to Vidant Hospital for treatment. The parties are expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the accident, a portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time.
