Sunset Beach, NC (March 1, 2021) – Around 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on a roadway in Sunset Beach.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on NC-904. A man identified as 24-year-old Dakota Reiswig was driving his Toyota SUV headed south when he suddenly ran off the side of the road and struck two pedestrians in the driveway of a home. The vehicle then struck a Hyundai SUV parked in the driveway.
The pedestrians standing in the driveway were identified as 67-year-old Mint Greene and 64-year-old Robert Winslow. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Reiswig was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He has since been arrested for driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
