Swannanoa, NC – Zachary Muncey Injured in Pedestrian Crash on US-70

Swannanoa, NC (October 7, 2021) – At 7:30 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, October 7, a man was injured in a pedestrian crash in Swannanoa.

According to officials, the accident happened on US-70 around the area of Old US-70. A pedestrian identified as Zachary Muncey was walking in the area while it was raining heavily. A driver did not see him and drove through a green light, striking the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene.

Paramedics and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Muncey was seriously injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. His current condition is not yet known.

The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver as of yet.
